Welcome to the website for my private counseling and psychotherapy practice in San Carlos, California!
You’re likely here because something in your life isn’t working the way you’d like and you’re considering seeking professional help.
Life is all about change. We all experience major transitions at various times throughout our lives – new jobs and careers, new relationships, the birth of a child, parenting challenges, family illnesses, job loss or retirement, and the death of a loved one are just some of the changes we all must learn to navigate.
As with life, counseling and psychotherapy are also all about change… Learning to cope with and make the most of the changes life presents as well as learning to identify, explore, and change the subconscious thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors that keep us from enjoying the relationships and lives we desire.
When we’re facing difficult or unexpected challenges, the support of family and friends can be invaluable. But the advice and support of those we love rarely compensates for the objective, ongoing, and professionally-trained assistance necessary to change our perceptions and behaviors and learn to become our own best source of support. This is where counseling and psychotherapy can help.
How I Can Help
My name is Stan Graubart, and I’ve been providing individual, couples, and family counseling and therapy services for adolescents and adults for well over two decades.
My role as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist is to work collaboratively with you in an honest, empathic, and non-judgmental way to help you understand what’s getting in your way, reduce any symptoms that interfering with your ability to enjoy life to its fullest, and resolve the problems you’re facing so you can create the best relationships and life possible.
I practice psychotherapy eclectically, meaning I draw on numerous psychotherapeutic techniques. So, whether you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, or depression, wanting to improve your relationship with an intimate partner, family members, friends, or co-workers, or trying to make sense of your present situation and discover what makes life most meaningful for you, I’ll make sure the work we do together is suited to meeting your unique needs and goals.
This having been said, one of the most important determinants of successful counseling and therapy is the relationship you build with your therapist. You need to find a professional to work with who feels like a good fit for your personality and needs.
